# Privacy

> How Flux protects your data and what we collect

Your car problems are private. Flux is designed with privacy in mind.

## What Flux collects

* Chat messages you send
* Vehicle information you provide in conversation
* Account email and display name (if you sign up)
* Usage counts (number of messages sent, for rate limiting)
* Your location (city or zip code), optionally, if you ask for local service recommendations

## What Flux does not collect

* Your VIN or vehicle identification number
* Your real name (only a display name you choose)
* Payment information (Flux is free)
* Location data unless you voluntarily provide it

## How your data is used

* To provide AI-powered responses to your questions
* To save your chat history (signed-in users only)
* To enforce daily message limits
* We never sell your data to third parties

## Data security

Flux uses encryption to protect your data in transit and at rest.

## Guest users

If you use Flux without an account, your chat sessions are stored locally in your browser and not saved to our servers. Bookmarks saved as a guest are stored locally until you create an account.

## Deleting your account

You can delete your account and all associated data from your Profile page at any time.
